About Jason Dunaway
Founder of Purpose in Identity
Jason Dunaway is a writer, photographer, and teacher whose calling is to help others rediscover who they’ve always been—beloved sons and daughters of the Father. As the author of The Language of Sonship, Jason invites readers to embrace a transformative gospel: not one of striving for God’s approval, but living from the finished reality of union with Him. His message is rooted in grace, sonship, and the deeply personal revelation that identity is not achieved—it’s inherited.
For years, Jason lived entangled in the exhausting demands of religion, performing for approval and mistaking ministry for intimacy. But everything shifted the day he encountered Abba on the floor of a broken-down trailer. It wasn’t a sermon or system that changed him—it was the voice of the Father awakening him to a truth that had always been written into his being: You are already mine.
That encounter became the foundation of Jason’s journey—and the heart behind Purpose in Identity, a creative space dedicated to helping others step out of religious confusion and into relational clarity. Through his writing, speaking, and monthly theological reflections known as “theses,” Jason guides others into the joy of living as those fully accepted, fully included, and fully free in Christ.
Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Jason also leads Windwalker Print Shop, a creative studio specializing in photography, design, and visual storytelling. His work has been featured in local magazines, and he continues to mentor a growing team of editors and creatives committed to capturing beauty with purpose.
He lives in Birmingham with his wife, Lillian, and their three children—living proof that sonship is not just a message, but a way of life.
Jason’s mission is simple: to help people leave behind the burden of becoming and remember who they’ve always been—whole, welcomed, and wonderfully woven into the heart of God.
