Living Whole

A desire of God’s is having whole and healthy sons ruling and reigning on the earth.

But that has to begin with us raising up whole, healthy families.

You’ve heard the saying Revival Starts with Family, right? It’s something that most of us have heard over the years, but rarely do we ever live by it or even know what it truly means.

This revival that I speak of isn’t a gathering of people in a stadium for 24 hours, praying and worshipping. It isn’t seeing masses of miracles of healings and financial breakthroughs.

I’m not against those things, but it’s not the agent of change we long to see in our lives and on the earth.

Over the years, I’ve come see that if we want to see earth look like heaven, we’ve first got to understand something and it’s this:

We’ve been made whole.

Revival is when a group of people become so convinced that what Jesus did for all of humanity has not only saved them from death, but has also made them whole. This is sozo. This is the Greek term for what salvation actually is.

It goes beyond forgiveness of sins and where you and I will spend eternity. It means wholeness in spirit. Jesus came to bring well being to all of humanity and he did!

You may be asking, “God, I want to raise up a whole, healthy family.”

Then we are going to have rid ourselves of any trace of legalism that is residing within us. We cannot call the cosmos out of her purposelessness while we are still living in futility ourselves.

I’ve been deep-diving in Romans 4 over last year, so I’d like to explicate on some things in this chapter for moment.

In Romans 4:6, Paul says, “Even King David himself speaks to us regarding the complete wholeness that comes inside a person when God’s powerful declaration of righteousness is heard over our life. Apart from our works, God’s work is enough…”

Jumping to verse 8, Dr. Simmons so beautifully communicates, “What happy progress comes to them when they hear the Lord speak over them, ‘I will never hold your sins against you!’”

Wholeness is realized in us when these things happen:

  • When we come into agreement with Abba’s revelation of righteousness over our life.

You and I cannot stop at head knowledge, we must come into a measure of encounter with Yahweh that takes us deeper into union with Him that we will actually manifest righteousness in our walk.

  • When we hear Him say over us, “I will never hold your sins against you.”

This happy progression that Paul mentions is not him inviting us to measure ourselves by how less we sin. On the contrary! Paul is saying that our assurance in being perfectly righteous and living in wholeness produces a life of complete joy.

This progression happens when we quit measuring ourselves by how well we behave, but instead measuring ourselves by how loved we are.

The good news here is that we are in union with a Father who is not keeping score.

Truly, this was the great darkness I lived in for so long. When I messed up I believed God was chalking things up on a list, keeping score of all the sins I committed, when He actually longed for me to join Him in His opinion of me.

Do you have areas in your life where you still feel like God is keeping score on you behavior?

Sit down with Abba and read through the entire book of Romans 4. Ask Him to show you where you’ve failed to see His approval and His free gift of righteousness in your life.

The foundation of the rediscovery of righteousness is reflecting God’s opinion of you.

Revival begins with living whole.
